Everyone has an angel within them: a beautiful, radiant side. Sometimes this side of us is hidden underneath the mundane; sometimes we don’t even know that the angel is there.
Sometimes, we deny that the beauty is there. We deny the girly side, the feminine side of ourselves. We dismiss beauty as vanity and forcibly remove any act of beautification. We dismiss beauty as superficial, shallow and unattainable.
“Looking pretty is not for me”, “I’m not a vain-pot”, “I’m forever ugly, so what’s the point?”
Yet, is beauty so insidious? Is it a crime to want to look beautiful? Don’t we admire beauty in others while at the same time, we bemoan our lack of it?
Sometimes, we equate the desire to look beautiful with materialism, consumerism or vanity. Yet, beauty in itself is not so loaded with negative ideas.
Beauty is meant to be celebrated. Beauty in the written word: Literature. Beauty in architecture: the Taj Mahal. Beauty in art: Mona Lisa. Beauty in nature: Flowers.
Beauty in all forms are unabashed expressions. Why should we hide our inner beauty? Just as you try to develop your inner character, why should you neglect the other appearance?
It is an undeniable fact that physical appearances matter. Our first impression of someone is composed almost entirely by their appearance. Don’t let yourself down by neglecting yourself.
Let the angel inside shine through. Let your inner beauty be reflected by your outer self.
Let the angel within us all shine forth!
